Haryana's Power Minister has proposed installing solar panels on canals around the state.

"The Power Department is formulating a proposal to set up power plants using solar panels planted on canals around the state," he remarked while presiding over an official meeting in Fatehabad.



Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala said on Monday that the state's power department is working on a proposal to install solar panels on canals throughout the state to generate renewable energy. According to the minister, the state government is making a concerted effort to promote the usage of solar energy. "The Power Department is formulating a proposal to set up power plants using solar panels planted on canals around the state," he remarked while presiding over an official meeting in Fatehabad.


He also stated that rice stubble-based power plants will be built in four locations across the state. A plant will be established in Fatehabad as well.


According to a release, "these facilities will not only create energy but will also produce compressed bio gas." The District Development and Monitoring Committee (D-Plan) meeting, presided over by the power minister, approved development works costing Rs 14.86 crore. Chautala asked the officers to execute the development work within the time frame specified so that the grant would not lapse.
